# bwHPC - Coffee Lectures



In this new format - starting in winter term 2025 - we touch upon different topics in the context of computing using Baden-Württemberg's high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructures.



Coffee lectures accompany the full courses offered by the bwHPC-S5 (bwHPC Scientific Simulation and Support Services) teams at the Universities in Baden-Württemberg.



They are targeted at users of the bwHPC compute clusters as well as scientists interested in exploring the options and features available.



In our Coffee Lectures, we touch upon different topics in the context of research computing in general and using Baden-Württemberg's high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructures in particular.

 - Utilizing Containers on the bwUniCluster

 - **Introduction to high-performance computing (HPC) and overview of bwHPC**

 - **Parallelization (in R)**

 - **Overview of storage types (file, object, block)**

 - **Data structures and types in Python & R**

 - **MPI and Python**

 - **Options for running programs on a bwHPC cluster**

 - **Reproducible computing environments**

 

We are also open for suggestions!
